What is a clairvoyant?
On this earth, we all have our own talents. Some individuals are blessed with almost or entirely supernatural gifts. Psychics are one of them, to the extent that their divinatory and prediction abilities far exceed those of ordinary mortals. Let's study together the main characteristics of clairvoyance.
What is a clairvoyant in the 21st century?
The five natural senses of man are well known: hearing, touch, smell, sight and taste. A clairvoyant adds to these five classic senses an extrasensory perception acting as a sixth sense: this is the gift of divination. This talent being extremely rare, people who have been blessed with it (innately) are massively sought after by their peers, which explains why they most often have to exercise it full time, and therefore earn their living with it.
In order to sharpen their supernatural divinatory perceptions across time and space, a clairvoyant can use a whole range of tools. The best known, in the popular imagination, probably belong to the world of intuitive clairvoyance, like cards or the crystal ball. The seers of Antiquity favored mantics, with haruspices reading the future in the entrails of very particular animals. There are also what we call “auguries”, playing for example a primordial role in the history of Rome – in this regard, just think of the myth of Remus and Romulus.
How to tell the difference between medium and clairvoyant?
The noun “medium” only dates from the 19th century in France. Before, other terms were used to describe the medium such as “soothsayer” or “clairvoyant”, which contributed to maintaining the confusion between the profession of clairvoyant and that of medium. In addition, the clairvoyant is often also a medium and vice versa. But a medium is not necessarily clairvoyant and a clairvoyant is not necessarily medium. Most psychics, however, can be called clairvoyant, as they have the ability to predict the future. But unlike pure clairvoyants, the flashes or images they receive come from spirits or entities, and not from a sixth sense. They are then called “psychic mediums”. The seer will often be unable to communicate with the dead. The medium and the clairvoyant are distinguished in particular by their working method. The indicator uses a support most of the time. The support, which he interprets, can be a tarot, cards, runes, a crystal ball, numbers or even stars. These supports will give rise to different areas of clairvoyance: cartomancy, numerology, astrology... It is necessary to distinguish clairvoyance with support from pure clairvoyance, without support, whose sessions can resemble those of a medium. The medium works in the majority of cases without support, he simply retransmits the flashes, images or sounds that he receives from missing people.
Which of the two should you consult?
You won't go to a medium for the same reasons you would go to a psychic. If you wish to communicate with a spirit or a deceased loved one, you will need to consult a medium. If you want to see your future, to find answers to your concerns, you will have to turn to a psychic. But how do you know if the person who predicts your future is a clairvoyant or a medium? If she does not use any support (cards, runes, etc.), she is probably a medium, or more precisely a “psychic medium”. Otherwise, you are faced with a warning light. If you consult someone who communicates with spirits, you can be sure that you are dealing with a medium, who can in certain cases have clairvoyant gifts, and therefore predict the future for you. Despite their own characteristics, clairvoyants and mediums often remain confused, even in the world of spirituality. As these professions are not regulated and organized, this allows for free rein to the definition that everyone can make of them.
